Ingredients
250 grams of butter or ghee softened
250 grams of Winnie’s Pure Health Honey
500 grams of Ugali Afya maize flour
5 Winnie’s Pure Health Organic Eggs
50 ml milk
1 tablespoon vanilla essence
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and grease or line two 7-inch baking pans (8-inch pans work as well)
- In a bowl, mix together maize flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter or ghee with Winnie’s Pure Health Honey, then add milk. Mix continuously until smooth and well combined
- Add the eggs one at a time and vanilla essence, mixing well after each addition until the batter is soft and consistent
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula or whisk. Do not overmix to maintain a light, airy texture
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pans. Bake for about 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. (Baking times may vary depending on your oven)
- Allow the cakes to cool slightly before slicing. Serve plain or with your favorite light topping
