Skillet Corn Bread


  • 1 and 1/4 cups Winnie’s Pure Health Chapati Afya flour

  • ¼ cup Winnie’s Pure Health Ugali Afya flour

  • 1 teaspoon Winnie’s Pure Health Herbal Sea Salt

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 and 1/3 cups whole milk

  • ¼ cup Winnie’s Pure Health Honey

  • 2 Winnie’s Pure Health Organic Eggs

  • 1 cup Strawberries, cut into halves

  • 8 tablespoons ghee/ butter, melted


  • Place a cast-iron pan inside a preheated 190 degrees Celsius oven to heat while you make the batter
  • In a bowl, whisk together the Ugali Afya flour, Chapati Afya flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda
  • Whisk in the milk, eggs, and honey until just combined
  • Whisk in the melted butter, reserving about 1 tablespoon for coating the skillet
  • Reserve about 10 strawberries. Fold the remaining strawberries into the batter, and then add the remaining to the surface of the mixture
  • Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Reduce oven temperature to 180 degrees Celsius
  • Coat the bottom and sides of the hot skillet with 1 tablespoon of butter/ghee
  • Pour the batter into the cast iron and place it in the center of the oven on top of the sheet pan
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
  • Set it aside and allow it to cool then serve
