Brown Rice Pilau

Indulge in the rich flavors of Brown Rice Pilau, a wholesome and hearty dish made with Winnie’s Pure Health Brown Rice. Perfectly seasoned with Afya Mchuzi and pilau masala, this dish is sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Winnie’s Pure Health Brown rice, washed

  • 1/2 kg beef, cubed

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 51/2 cups of hot water or broth

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 4 cloves of garlic, crushed

  • 1 tablespoon ginger, crushed

  • 2 tomatoes, cubed

  • 1 teaspoon Winnie’s Pure Health Afya Mchuzi

  • 3 teaspoons pilau masala

  • ¼ teaspoon Winnie’s Pure Health Herbal sea salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  • Boil beef with ginger for 30 – 40 minutes then set aside
  • Heat oil and fry onions till light brown, add garlic and pilau spices and on a low heat, fry for 1 minute
  • Add tomatoes, beef with potatoes and cook till tender
  • Add rice, Afya Mchuzi and mix everything well before adding your broth or hot water then stir the mixture
  • Add salt and pepper to taste then cover the pot and cook on medium heat
  • When the rice is almost dry, lower down the heat to very low, cover the pilau with aluminium paper and place the lid on top. Leave to cook for 10 minutes
  • Serve the pilau hot with Kachumbari
