SURVIVING THE DREADFUL JANUARY

January Detox

If you turned up to work today announcing that we are still in week two of the longest month of the year and you simply cannot believe that you have another 2 weeks and so to be in February, then we have news for you! Many people at work feel like a big lump of lard. This should not be happening because you are a fabulous person. Surely a fit and healthy, spiritually evolved person doesn’t feel like a zombie? Apparently, they do when they completely let go of the Christmas holiday ignore all their nutrition knowledge, and eat double their body weight in chapati, cakes, and nyamachoma. Sigh.

Here is January. The month was sent to punish us for our party and celebration life. When the weather is too hot, the pockets are too dry and bodies are overweight.  New year’s resolutions are making us miserable; the detox stories have begun and we are back to work like nothing happened. What a bummer.

Okay, so how can we cheer ourselves up during these 90 days? First things first sit down and make a budget of how you’d want to spend the little you have. However not sticking to it means going back to the drawing board. Make sticky notes around the house to remind you of your goals. If you are used to eating out and ordering from online apps, you might want to prepare simple meals this month. Use the simple recipes on our website and socials that can guide you to cook some delicious Kenya meals. After all, cooking your meals is cheaper, and healthy because you get to choose fresh and healthy ingredients to use.

Everyone likes to detox and retrieve healthy eating during January. This is all well and good, giving up the booze and promising never to take it, bad fat, wheat, dairy, and sugar is certainly ideal. But don’t follow a diet that you can’t stick to it, support your body with a gentle detox. A healthy starter pack gently cleanses the bowel, intestinal urinary, liver, and circulation all together making you feel better.

Do the exercises you enjoy. Many people are running early in the morning. If you don’t love it, you won’t stick to it. Plus, your body releases chemicals depending on your emotional state. If your body is under stress, you will release adrenalin and cortisol which when circulating the body can create fat storage, illness, and sugar imbalances. Better to find something you enjoy doing like swimming, or dancing to your favorite music. Because after all joy is the best detoxifier there is.

It’s a tough month but don’t let it bring your happiness down. Enjoy the little wins and remember it’s only a few weeks to the month of love.
