MENU PLAN FOR 6-9 MONTHS BABY.

Toto Afya

While weaning the baby is something that most parents enjoy and look forward to, it comes with a few things to consider before the baby is fully dependent on meals. To start with, your baby only needs a small amount of solid food, once a day, at a time that suits you both. You can begin weaning with simple carbohydrates like porridge and fruits blended or made into a puree, it’s important to introduce one food at a time and a small amount, this makes it easy to see any reaction if any. During the first days of food introduction, gives the baby food that is washed, cooked, and blended, and those that the gut can easily digest, blended vegetables should be introduced three days after. Introduce your baby to drinking from the cup or beaker and offer sips of clean boiled water with meals up to around 250ml of water in a day.

This is a simple meal plan to guide you during the process of weaning, but you should always consider giving one type of meal to the baby to see if they have any reaction. Protein meals should be introduced at 7 months and one protein at a time because most of proteins can cause allergies. Most common food allergies include cow’s milk, peanut, eggs, soy, wheat, and fish.
