How to prepare Ugali meal

A diabetes diet is simply a healthy- eating plan that will help you control your blood sugar!

First thing in the morning before taking anything else;

NEEM:

Take a glass of hot/warm water of Herbal infusion.

Benefits:

It is an effective remedy for treating diabetes as they are loaded with flavonoids and antiviral compounds which help manage blood sugar levels.

BREAKFAST:

  • Organic arrowroots.
  • Organic sweet potatoes.
  • Organic cassava.

(with unsweetened hibiscus flower tea, Uji Afya, Wimbi Afya)

  • Organic free-range eggs (boiled)
  • 1 portion of a green leafy vegetable or a fruit.

Note: between 8 am to 10 am drink at least 2-3 glasses of pure purified water.

Mid-morning Break:

  • If not hungry don’t take anything just keep drinking your water to meet your daily water intake. Alternatively, you can drink a cup of nettle infusion to keep you warm.
  • However, if you are hungry you may take a handful of nuts or a smoothie garnished with seeds of your choice.

LUNCH:

Carbohydrates     Protein    Vegetables  
Brown RiceNutsRed, yellow, and green bell pepper
Chapati Afya/Atta mark 1OmenaSteamed cabbage
Boiled or baked arrow roots, sweet potato, cassavaSalmonFrench beans
Boiled or baked pumpkin or butternut squashFishMixed Vegetables
 Organic Chicken 
 Legumes e.g. lentils, ndegu, black beans, yellow beans, and peas. 

Note: Shallow team or shallow fry your vegetables with less oil. And don’t overcook them for them to remain crunchy. Also between 3 pm to 6 pm aim to drink purified water.

DINNER:

Combine your choices of carbohydrates, plant-based protein, and vegetables. It’s preferred that when you are a diabetic you take your early before 8 pm to make it easy for digestion to occur.

Drink a cup of Pure chamomile tea after dinner. This will help you sleep well and rest.

FOR YOUR COOKING.

  1. Use olive oils, butter, and ghee to cook your meals.
  2. Garnish your meals with seeds like chia seeds, flaxseed, sunflower seeds, etc.
  3. Use seasoning that is organic and with no MSG e.g. Winnie’s Pure Health Mchuzi mix.
  4. Use table salt that has other spices to enhance the taste of the food. E.g. Winnie’s Pure Health Herbal Salt.
