The Revelation

Revelation the image

John 6: 29 Jesus said:- “ This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent” Just believe!! That is the only work Jesus said God wants from us. This is of course easier said than done. In most part of my life, I struggled to believe in God. I believed that there is God and I actually knew about God. I have been a member of bible study groups, and a good student at the popular BSF classes, did my homework and faithfully attended the classes. I prayed to God particularly at the times of need and during meals. So, I actually KNEW ABOUT GOD BUT I DID NOT KNOW GOD.

This REVELATION came to me as a shock. All my life, I had this belief that all I needed to be successful is to use my MIND; Isn’t it the reason we go to school? To learn how to use our minds so as to figure out things? In best case scenarios, I would pray but still continue to figure out the issue.

Being an advocate by profession, I felt even more equipped to figure out things. However, the more I tried to keep on figuring out challenges and particularly how to achieve peace, love, joy, success etc., the more I struggled in my mind. At times, I hardly slept due to persistent focus on problem solving and strategizing.

Romans 8: 28 says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him and who have been called accordingly to his purpose.” I also knew, I loved God BUT why were all things not working for my good?

Further in John 14 verse 12-14 Jesus said “I tell you the truth anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done and even greater works because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name and I will do it”

The question is why do some Christians struggle in getting what they want in their lives? Is it because they do not ask in the name of Jesus or because they do not BELIEVE?

The revelation for me was that I did not believe. I did not take the word/promise of Jesus like a child. I did not surrender to God completely after I asked in prayer what I wanted nor did I stay still. I would continue attempting to figure it all out or worry myself.

Psalms 46:10 (New American Standard Bible) says “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted in the earth”

I would pray and at the same time continue to strive. I never truly and practically surrendered.

No wonder most of the time then I did not see the manifestation of what I had asked for until I forgot about it. My dilemma was that I thought as soon as I became a Christian, and or better still “Born Again, the manifestation of my prayer would be automatic. Yes, it would have been automatic if I truly BELIEVED and let it be as per God’s plan.

What are the symptoms of non-believers:

a) When one keeps on asking, asking, asking the same thing from God over and over again. Believing is when you ask once, surrender, let the how be as per God’s plan and from then hence forth, you start thanking God even for the unseen.

b) When one keeps on checking if the situation or circumstances have changed to what you have prayed for. Meaning you are like Thomas in the bible and you only believe what you’ve seen with your physical eyes but don’t believe in God’s promise. You look at the gift and not the GIVER. So instead of believing that God has already answered your prayer, you wait to believe only after the GIFT has come. So, you continue doubting in disbelief.

c) You keep on figuring out ways of getting the gift instead of surrendering and say “Let Go and let God.” You don’t stay still and let God do the work in his own ways and time.

d) Talking or taking actions contrary to what you have prayed for, for example saying h cat i it”… or talking negatively about the situation instead of blessing it. Or taking actions complete opposite of what you have been praying for.

Are you struggling with your weight? Are you struggling to feel well? Are you struggling to feel content? Many people ask me, Winnie, how can I lose weight? Winnie, how can I feel well? Winnie, how can I blah! blah! blah…

My answer which came out of a revelation is…

1) Ask for what you want in the name of Jesus.

2) Ask God in the name of Jesus and through the power of the Holy spirit “to help you BELIEVE you have received.”

3) Thank God for answering your prayers.

4) Start making plans or taking steps to receive what you have prayed for. Begin to take steps of FAITH. That’s it!! Just believe and stop striving by using your mind and strength and make it a spiritual affair. Let the Holy spirit guide your mind and Body.

That’s it!! Just believe and stop striving by using your mind and strength and make it a spiritual affair. Let the Holy spirit guide your mind and Body. Let the Holy spirit do it for you. This is the beginning of wellness using the Body, Mind and Spirit.
